I’m a novelists, essayist, geopolitical analyst with a past as an investigative journalist and foreign correspondent with Italian dailies La Repubblica and La Stampa, but also with national TVs Rai and La7. I won the Mazzotti-Gambrinus Prize for my non-fiction book on climate change, civil rights, religious conflict and impact of technology on societies in Asia and India.
I’ve taught a post-graduate course in India on how Internet is changing how we absorb knowledge and information, and I’ve also lectured at NYU, Columbia, Yonsei U. on intercultural communication topics in Asia, Europe and the US, and on the topics of my ten books. I’ve lived in Northern Italy, Northern Florida, Washington DC, New York, Rome, Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Madrid, Abu Dhabi and now near a village in Southern India. Recently I gave a TEDx talk in Italy on how the concept of union is the key to evolution.
I’ve experienced censorship from a publisher for writing about the Italian government, but I’ve also won the Leonardo Prix international for a 50 min. documentary taking on Big Pharma (without getting sued!). So I feel I know first-hand what independent journalism means, and that’s why I’m happy to be here on Substack with my own “GlobalSpin”
Here I write about the tension in global balances, East and West, about how technology transforms information and culture, documenting also the crisis of Americanization in the Western world, in personal essays, and release audiobook chapters of my memoir about the Indianization of a Western person.

Carlo Pizzati is a seasoned journalist, bilingual essayist, and transcultural novelist who has authored ten books in both Italian and English. With a career spanning over four decades, he has reported on global conflicts, environmental issues, and social movements from diverse regions such as Northern Ireland, Colombia, Mexico, India and other Asian countries. His work has appeared in major publications like "Repubblica," and he has collaborated with media giants like BBC and Public Radio International. Pizzati has also played a significant role in the media industry, founding tv programs and directing digital portals, and has earned prestigious awards for his investigative journalism. In addition to his writing and journalism, he has taught communication theory and creative writing at renowned institutions worldwide. Currently, he’s based in a coastal village in South India with his wife, poet Tishani Doshi, continuing to contribute to literature and journalism.
